Book of Hours, Office (Hours) of the Holy Spirit, at None, Vespers, Compline (Officium Sancti Spiritus). Northern France or the Netherlands, late 15th Century. Medieval manuscript leaf (recto), parchment, containing text and decoration, including illuminated, foliated panels and illuminated initials. Gold illumination on decorative elements; decorative elements include acanthus leaf and flowers. The script is a Gothic textura with slightly diamond minims, 20 lines to the page with ink ruling; there are ten notable illuminated initials, including three 2-line initials. Page measures 175 x 125 mm. Text includes prayers, hymns, and antiphons for the Office indicated in a very compact, abbreviated form.
